The Florida State track & field teams will begin tuning up for the ACC Outdoor Championships in two weeks by spreading out across the country this weekend for big-meet competition.

FSU sophomore Carly Thomas is the first recipient of the Tracy Pepoon True Seminole Award, presented to the women's cross country runner who has gotten the most out of her ability.

Chelsea Whalen and Lakitta Johnson shined in the shot put, while Hannah Acton earned a share of second place in the pole vault Friday at the 87th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.

Grete Sadeiko posted the second-best heptathlon score in FSU history, while hammer throwers Katja Vangsnes and Briana Cherry-Bronson move to Nos. 2-3 on all-time list at Texas Relays.

Redshirt freshman Grete Sadeiko started and finished fast on the first day of heptathlon competition at the Texas Relays. With three events remaining she is ninth against a field of 24 competitors.

Marecia Pemberton won the FSU Relays 100-meter dash title with a nation-leading time, one of seven victories on the final day of the meet. Freshman Chadrick DaCosta won both the discus and shot put to lead the way.

The 35th FSU Relays got going in style with the host Seminoles posting five victories on a day when three meet records fell and three FSU signees tasted victory.

FSU senior Dentarius Locke parlayed the first NCAA Indoor 60-meter championship in school history to ACC Men's Track Athlete of the Year honors. Bob Braman was named ACC Men's and Women's Coach of the Year.
